Ending Systemic Racism

We acknowledge the pain, grief, and trauma that people throughout our community are experiencing.

  • To the Black, Indigenous, and People of Color members of our community, we recognize the extra burden you face — from recent events and from generations of pain and trauma caused by racism and injustice. As an organization, we stand with you.

  • To those in our community who have been speaking out about racism and actively working to bring equity and justice, we recognize the importance of your efforts. We recognize there is more to do, and that it is a marathon and not a sprint.

  • To our Twin Cities community, we recognize the heartbreak on so many levels, the awakening many are having, and the need to rebuild — in the midst of a global pandemic and economic crisis. We recognize everyone is impacted in their own ways.

Resources on ways to engage and learn are readily available online. It’s up to each of us to do our own work and determine our role. As a member-driven, professional organization that connects people, UXPA Minnesota plays a role in ending systemic racism.

As the UXPA Minnesota board, we’re starting from our core values as human-centered advocates: listening, empathy, and putting people at the heart of experiences. We are considering ways to amplify diversity and inclusion in existing programming, and to bring the UX community together to address and dismantle the systemic racism at the root of our collective pain and anger.

We welcome your thoughts and ideas on how the UX community can affect change. Please send them to us here. We don't have the answers but we are here, we are listening, and we are ready to do the work.
